How to install Wifi and Bluetooth drivers under Windows XP for Dell Vostro 1015 laptop
The question is simple: how should I download and install wifi and bluetooth driver for windows xp (x86, 32 bit), if I have a Dell Vostro 1015 laptop.
One might think, that navigating tohttp://support.dell.com/support/download/index.aspx, giving the service tag for the laptop and selecting the OS as Windows XP will show us which drivers we need to download from Dell's site. But in this case this method won't work, since when we choose Windows XP, there will be no suggestion for the WIFI and bluetootd drivers under the communication tab.
If you follow these steps, it might work for you also.
Installing the WIFI:
1. Downloadhttp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R174291.exe
2. Run and extract (to C:\dell\drivers\R174291 by default) the files.
3. Go to Start/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device manager/
4. Right-click on the network card item that has an escalation on a yellow background.
5. Click on Update driver
6. Select "I will choose the installation source myself." (Or something similar, I don't have an English XP with me now.
7. Set the C:\dell\drivers\R174291\DRIVER as the source for installation files.
8. Click OK. The system should recognize your WIFI card as "Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card"
Installing the Bluetooth
1. Downloadhttp://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R155395.exe
2-7. The same as above, but you have to choose the Unknown USB device from the list and set source for the device driver files to C:\dell\drivers\R155395\Drivers.
8. The system should recognize your bluetooth as "Dell Wireless 360 Bluetotth Module"
